Open Question: What instruments are being
Hi. I'm doing a music report and am having trouble pinpointing the instruments used in Into the Woods' "Prologue: Into the Woods". The instrumental version can be found here:
(If that doesn't work, a simple Youtube search of the song followed by "instrumental" should work)
I am pretty musically challenged, but I do hear strings and possibly some brass? Perhaps a violin and trumpets of sorts? Also, a bit into the song I think I hear a wind instrument (a flute I believe). Anyway, help pinpointing the instruments in the song will help me plenty.
Also, I'm having trouble trying to hear out what time signature it has. By instinct, I'd say something over 4, but I really have trouble with music (one of the two classes I failed in college).
Finally, as a bonus, if you could tell if the singers of the regular version of the song (with vocals) are singing in soprano, alto, tenor, or bass, you'd make my day.
The song is by Stephen Sondheim and is performed by a number of singers: "James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Daniel Huttlestone, Emily Blunt, Christine Baranski, Tammy Blanchard, Lucy Punch, Tracey Ullman, Lilla Crawford, Meryl Streep and Company".
I'm not sure what "...and Company" is referring to.
Note: there are patches of no sound in the instrumental version. They are usually areas of dialogue found in the normal version.
Thank you so much. I appreciate any and all help.
