Resolved Question: Is England or America a
I’m a 16 year old American girl who is intrigued by England. What got me started was One Direction. I am literally obsessed with them, I’m not even kidding you. I devote my life stalking them with other directioners on tumblr. Don’t judge me. It may sound weird, but since then I have learned a lot about England and how it’s different from the U.S. Before, I thought that the U.S. was the best, freest, most fun country in the world. Now, I realize how ridiculous and ethnocentric this sounds. When I weigh the pros and cons of America and Europe in my mind, I feel like America is a better place to live, particularly England. Here are my top comparisons which make me admire England:
-The general accent sounds better. I know that some aren’t as desirable as others (e.g. the Cockney accent), but more often than not, the English pronounce words better than us. I have a standard American accent which just seems so blah and nasally to me compared to let’s say Harry Styles’ Holmes Chapel, Cheshire accent.
-More people dress nicely. Of course I know there are fashionable people in both countries, but it just seems that more Europeans in general take pride in their appearance. So many people here—especially at my school—don’t care on a day-to-day basis, wearing T-shirts and running shorts everyday.
-There is less suburban sprawl. If I didn’t have my own car, I would be screwed. My school is 20 minutes away, the mall is 30, and the nearest shopping complex is 10 minutes away. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like in England, you can just walk to various places without having to rely on a car to get everywhere.
-There are more witty people who can “banter” well. I know this is just a stereotype though, but it is generally true!
-There seem to be MUCH less idiots. I live in the South, so there are a lot of ignorant racists who get on my nerves. There are also ghetto people which cause a lot of inner city crime. Moreover, I’d say everyone in my grade who isn’t in the top 10% (based on GPA) is either stupid or doesn’t care about school. So many people in on-level classes don’t do their homework or study for tests and are happy to get by with Cs. I don’t understand this because I try to do my best possible so that I can get into a good college!
-That leads me into my last point. The education system is better. It’s more specialized and less crappy overall. Our public school system is awful. You are lucky if you get a teacher that actually teaches because most that I’ve had don’t. It’s all just “read your text book” or “copy down these notes that I found on the Internet because I’m too lazy to make my own”. It’s all about memorizing facts and purging them on tests, not about actual learning.
So, is the grass really greener, or do I just want what I can't have? And before you start correcting me, I already know the difference between Great Britain, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. haha awful typo:
I feel like EUROPE is a better place to live, particularly England

Resolved Question: In season 4 episode 18 of
OK I am not looking for the character name but the actresses name. I know I have seen her in other movies or shows but I can't put my thumb on witch ones. I thank you in advanced if you can tell me the answer. @Miss Tinkerbell: SO OK I got the accent wrong but I am watching the episodes from start to finish and when I posted the above note I had just got done watching the episode. Ross just met her a few episodes ago for the first time. So how can she be Ross's Ex British wife? Unless you are spoiling the story line. I remember that Rachel didn't want to take her bosses relative to the Opera. Rachel wanted to go to a club with with a guy instead so she got Ross to fill in for her.

Resolved Question: What do you think of
I've just found out that the actress Helen Baxendale (who played Emily in the tv show Friends) has some rather unusual middle names for her children.
Their names are are:
Apparently Marmalade is after a character called Marmalade Atkins in a book that she read when she was a child. Mustard and Mash are, as she puts it "a bit of stupidity on the way to the register office,” or "just a funny add-on".
What do you think of them?
