James Gandolfini
  Resolved Question: Why was James
This is from his Wikipedia page: "Gandolfini was born in Westwood, New Jersey. His mother, Santa (née Penna), a high school lunch lady, was born in the United States, of Italian ancestry, and raised in Naples, Italy. His father, James Joseph Gandolfini, Sr., a native of Borgotaro, Italy, was a bricklayer and cement mason and was later the head custodian at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey.James Sr. earned a Purple Heart in World War II. Gandolfini's parents were devout Roman Catholics and spoke Italian at home. Due to the influence of his parents, he developed a strong sense of being Italian and visited Italy regularly." Any evidence to suggest Gandolfini left the Catholic Church and joined the Episcopal Church? Was he a member of a particular Episcopal parish? Did his Italian family, all raised Catholic, all become Episcopalians? I'm just asking, since it sure puzzled a lot of people a year ago when the choice not to have a Roman Catholic funeral Mass (to which he would have been entitled by virtue of his Catholic Baptism) was apparently made by his family. Even though he was divorced from his first wife, he most certainly would have still been entitled to a funeral Mass in the Catholic Church.

  Resolved Question: Was actor James
Curious if he Baptized there. Or married there? Did he attend regularly? Just wondering. Since his funeral was at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC I was curious about any connection he or any of his family members had with the Episcopal Church. Not every day that you find people whose parents were Italian who are Episcopalians. In my experience, many Episcopalians tend to have names like Richard Tallbot Evans III than James Joseph Gandolfini.

Resolved Question: Why an Episcopal funeral
James Gandolfini was born into a devout Roman Catholic family. He took his son to visit the Vatican shortly before he passed away unexpectedly. There really has never been any mention of his religious leanings as he tended not to talk much about his private life. But are we to believe that his entire family went from being raised Roman Catholic to Episcopalian? Why else would they have had an Episcopal funeral service instead of a Catholic funeral mass? Some have said there was no evidence that he was Catholic or ever attended Catholic church services. True enough. But was there a shred of evidence that he attended an Episcopal Church? Or that he ever joined one? What's the story? Surely someone must know! From the news stories about his funeral, there was no presence of Catholic clergy and it was not billed as an ecumenical service. Was the entire Gandolfini family disenfranchised from the Catholic faith?

The service is supposed to be this Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Cathedral of St.John The Divine in New York City. I assumed the location was chosen so that his many fans would be able to attend. The Cathedral's website seems to say that on Thursday the Cathedral will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC! "Due to events in the Cathedral, Jane Alexander: Surveys (from the Cape of Good Hope) and Hidden Lives: The Untold Story of Urban Refugees will be closed to the public on Thursday, June 27." Can this be possible? Having the funeral at the largest cathedral in the world and closing it to the public? Does any of this make sense? Or am I misreading the closure notice? Are they closing the presentation they have scheduled so that people can't get into the cathedral? Anyone know? It would be nice to be able to attend. James, for a Top Answerer you blew it on this one. See, it IS open to the public. Maybe next time, try to answer with actual information rather than letting your holier than thou attitude get in the way. James, for a Top Answerer you blew it on this one.
