Resolved Question: John Locke vs David Hume
I know that John Locke states that personal identity is based off memory, for example, prince and cobbler. But, there is a flaw in his argument with the Brave officer paradox. Hume states that there is no criterion for personal identity, but I don't exactly understand his evidence or how he supports his argument. Could anyone help me understand what his argument is and his claims? Also, a problem with Hume's argument is that because there is no connection between memories then that means that we are technically not the same person, in that case would that mean we could not arrest criminals?

Resolved Question: Does John Hume Leader of
My elderly aunt (aged 90) has met someone who claims to be the son of Sir John Hume, leader of the SDLP and he's so charmed her that she wants to leave him something in her will. However I'm suspicious because he doesn't have an Irish accent and seems to know very little about Ireland. He's told my Aunt this is because he was born in Essex when his father lived there! He's told her that he worked in Kensington Palace on security, because they'll only employ people with his type of background for reasons of State security. I think he's a con artist but nothing I say gets through to her. I've looked up John Hume on Google in the hopes of finding out if he has any children and if so their gender and ages, but can find nothing. I've also looked up the name he's given her and found nothing that matches. Can anyone help me please? Yes I knew about him never having lived anywhere but Ireland and France, what I really need is something I can print off about his children or lack thereof, because she's not going to be convinced by anyone else. And I would report him to the police if I knew who he really is and where he lives! If he doesn't exist then under the info he's given her, then she can't leave him anything in her will but it could cause complications with her estate and I'm worried that she might give him money or valuables now.

Resolved Question: How did Thomas Hobbes,
For my research paper, I'm supposed to analyze The Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes, The Two Treatise of Civil Government by John Locke, and the Political Essays of David Hume. What I'm asking is, how did each author through their works relate their opinion of human nature to the formation of government and how did they inspire the founding fathers of our nation?

Resolved Question: I need help understanding
Please I'm failing my Philosophy class and I don't know why! I study really hard I'm just not getting it! k. well thanks anyway. I guess that's all you can help me with. IDK what the hell the teacher wants from me all I know is she asked me this: "Consider a big life decision you have made in the past or anticipate making in the future. Now analyze that decision in light of the following: Which theory or theories of consciousness and personal identity most resembles how you understand the role of the self in the decision-making process? For example, was the process primarily based in reason? Did past and present experience play a role? Is the decision one based primarily in your desire for something? "
