Resolved Question: Name the horror film?
I think it was a made for TV movie, from early-mid 2000's, and centred on a family moving back into a house that the father lived in when he was a boy. General creepy stuff happened, kids voices in the dark, stuff moving etc.
But the underlying plot was that when the father of the family had been a boy, his father was part of a satanic cult and was supposed to kill him for some kind of ceremony to release whatever crazy evil things lurked in the house.
He had some kind of breathing problem as I recall and in the end the man was having some kind of attack and his wife tried to save him (by jamming a pen into his throat to release the air?) but the 'ghosts' (who were apparently the spirits of the other children murdered by the cult) rolled the pen away into the darkness, causing the man's death.
It was basically a pretty awful film but I'm determined to find out what the hell it was called.

Resolved Question: What is the name of this
I can't find the title of this film anywhere, but I believe it's from the late 90s, and filmed in America. I thought the title was "The Dark" but IMDB disagrees :P
The plot is that in the past, a dark ritual was performed at a mansion, where a boarding school was run. One of the teachers/carers at the boarding school killed 6 little boys to try and summon some evil force. However, the final boy ran away, and thus the ritual wasn't completed. In the present time, a family is moving in to that mansion (unsure why).
When they get there, the dad starts going a bit insane, eg. breaking in walls because he thinks there are weevils in there, putting up scary paintings of corpse-like faces, being aggressive etc. The family thinks he is going mad, but what none of them know (including him) is that he is that final boy who got away, and now he is back in the house where he was almost sacrificed. Strange things start happening, and the daughter goes to speak to her Grandpa about why his son (her dad) is being so weird. He drugs her, ties her to a chair and reveals that he is the one who tried to perform that ritual in the past, and that now he will finally be able to complete it, by killing her dad in the house.
The girl somehow gets away, and goes to rescue her family. When she gets there though, things are already pretty messed up. Somehow her dad goes into anaphylaxis, and she has to stick a pen in his throat to let him breathe because it has swollen over. She makes the incision, but when she goes to insert the empty pen to let him breathe, it gets pulled from her hand by an invisible force. He suffocates, and the final death is complete. She has accidentally unleashed the evil force that was brewing in the house.
The evil force possesses her mother, who then tries to attack her, and she desperately tries to escape the house. Finally her boyfriend arrives and says they should escape together, and she gets in his car. Moments later however, her REAL boyfriend arrives at the house. She has just got into the car with an evil being pretending to be him. As they drive away they go under a bridge, where it's dark, and he turns over his shoulder to give her a creepy look (as if to say, 'now you die'). That's where the movie ends.
Sorry this is such a long question but I'm trying to be really specific so as to avoid any confusion over which film I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure it was American, late 90s by the look of it, and quite good! I saw it while I was in Thailand on one of the English-language channels, and I wasn't able to check the TV guide to see what it was, because it was all written in Thai lol. If anybody knows what this movie is I would be really happy- Thanks! :)
