i am writing an essay comparing or contrasting Big Brother from the novel 1984, and Robert Mugabe the dictator/president of Zimbabwe. One of the main focuses of the paper has to be how my chosen dictator managed to keep civilians loyal to them and their government. Any pointers to get me started are appreciated. thanks

Resolved Question: Is Alex Salmond becoming
Rigging elections/referendum by fixing the question, adding another 'heads I win, Tails you lose' question to the original, stuffing the ballot box with ineligible voters, picking on the english as the source of all woes, Mugabe went on to attack the Matabele will Salmond go on to attack the border Scots or Shetlanders?
Fact has been replaced by rhetoric, truth by Hollywood slogans and film scripts, inter-tribal hatred fed and encouraged.
I find it difficult to spot the difference between a thing that Salmond is doing from what Mugabe - and other demagogues - have done. OK, he hasn't massacred anyone yet, but he is already talking of those who want to say No to his plans as being traitors who should move elsewhere.
Just a thought, I would value some sane comments. DA:
The beauty of Y!A is that you don't have to answer the questions. But could you show a little bit of manners and breeding by not posting anything at all rather than the insults. You responses do nothing for or to me, but do make you look rather silly and babyish.
