Resolved Question: David Gilmour or Roger
Though Mason and Wright are crucial components of floyd, it is Waters and Gilmour that are the stand outs. Which do you believe is the better artist?
Personally I believe Gimour is the better
artist, as seen prior to Gilmour with Sid Barret Floyd was no where as near as to
what it was the following years. I believe it was said Gilmour was restrained from much creativity in the early years prior to Meddle, and of course when Meddle came you can truly see the beauty of
Floyd in Echoes alone, Gilmour really emohasized the Floyd sound there along with Wright on that song. Prior to Meddle, the albums such as Atom Heart Mother( Slide solo is amazing at 3:56 and 20:45
off atom heart mother suite) ummagumma, a saucerful of secrets etc were extremely experimental and not very appealing. The follow up to meddle it's said Gilmour was now seen as a crucial
member and not just Sid's replacement, and help create the greatest albums, dark side, the wall, wish you were here, and animals.
Though Waters is great I believe he was a greater orchestrater with the themes of the albums, and its lyrics. However Floyd can stand alone musically. For those of
you saying Waters was a great bassist, it was Gilmour who at times played the bass, for example on One of these days you can hear Gilmour playing bass first then Waters.
Which is better in your opinion? If not which Floyd member is your favorite, also it would be appreciated if bands similar to floyd or any great bands are mentioned.
