Resolved Question: Switzerland itinerary?
I have the rare opportunity to travel the first week of June (1-7) with my sister. We're glad just to have the time together, but we'd also like to basically see some beautiful views (snow or no), especially the mountains. We won't be skiing, but we'd sure like to sled/toboggan if possible! Hiking is great too, if it works in. We've been to Montreux, but not any farther inland than that. I'd be very glad for hotel recommendations, but also how long the trains are between destinations, and where to take them from/to (any preference of Golden Pass over the Glacier Express, if we changed our itinerary, of course?). Here's what we were thinking:
Saturday 6/1 7:25 p.m. fly out of NY to Geneva
Sunday 6/2 9:15 a.m. arrive Geneva
Rest, shop, eat, sightsee (not necessarily in that order)
Spend night in Geneva
Monday 6/3 Take train after lunch to Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen/Murren - 4 hours? (Golden Pass from Montreux to Interlaken??)
Spend 6/3 night in Murren
Tuesday 6/4 - See Mt. Schilthorn - cable car (want to include this where ever we go! :) )
Spend Tuesday night 6/4 in Murren?
Wednesday 6/5 Take train to Lucerne (2 hours)
Go up Mt. Pilatus cogwheel/gondola/toboggan (or any sledding, any where! :) )
Spend Wednesday 6/5 in Lucerne
Thursday 6/6 do some hiking/exploring (any tips??); Take train to Zurich (1 hr. 15 min.)
Spend 6/6 night in Zurich
6/7 fly out of Zurich at 9:50 a.m.
We're flying in one airport and out another because they are the only 2 I could find that both have non-stop flights, plus it saves us backtracking, and the cost is the same as using one airport.
Thanks for any help you can give!

Resolved Question: What clothing to wear
The weather forecast predicts rain and sun - what should I wear - considering I'm going quite high and walking a lot; higher than Murren to near snowy peaks. It can be quite warm, but is it very cool??? Help please! (i.e. type of raincoat, trousers etc, etc.)

Resolved Question: Planning a 11 day holiday
My family (3 of us) are looking to spend 11 days in Italy and Switzerland in May for 11 days. Fly in to Rome, train to the Cinque Terre, train to Venice, train to Switzerland (unknown location in Switzerland as of know) We would like to spend 3 nights in the Cinque Terre and at least 3 or 4 nights in Switzerland. How long should we spend in each location? Do you have any suggestions on this itinerary? Don't call me an idiot! I have a Ph.D in Geography from an Ivy League school! I know my way around. My dad was a travel guide and I have been throughout Europe more than you could in a lifetime! This isn't my first ******* time to Italy! Both of ares aren't! We just want to go! We have seen all the sights! Btw the train from Riomaggiore to Venice is 4 1/2 hours so kiss my ***! We have decided to do 2 nights I'm Rome, 3 in CT, 2 in Venice, and3 in Murren Switzerland. Why are people so rude on yahoo answers? Get a life level 7!
